It is yet to be known what, if anything, Hunter Hillenmeyer will do in practice this morning, but when the Bears were stretching in preparation for the short workout in the Walter Payton Center, the linebacker was in his gear and ready to go.
That doesn't mean he'll necessarily be on the field and participate in drills, but he could and we'll find out soon enough what the case is.
Hillenmeyer has been sidelined and has not practiced since suffering a rib injury in the second half of the Seattle game Sept. 27. Lovie Smith said the following day that Hillenmeyer's injury was not as serious as the one suffered by tight end Desmond Clark in the opener at Green Bay. Clark missed two games before returning against the Detroit Lions on Oct. 4. Clark is no longer on the injury report.
If Hillenmeyer practices, there is chance he could be a game-time decision Sunday night at Atlanta, but the guess here is he would miss the game. Again, that's a guess.
Check back later for more information.
As long as I've been a Bear fan, I don't remember any players that did not even participate in the Friday practice, ever playing.
Especially in the Lovie era...players have always had to practice at least a little on Friday if they have any hope of playing..I dont know if Lovie's stance is different because it's a late game..but I doubt it..maybe a Monday Night Game, but I do not see Hunter playing this week even if he practiced today.
You don't remember back in 85, Jim McMahon missing practice all week with a pinched nerve, Fuller starting in his place at Minnesota and after barking in Ditka's ear after the Bears fell far behind he would be allowed to enter the game and bring his team back to an amazing 33-24 victory ????
