Source: Bears will sign center Donovan Raiola

BOURBONNAIS, Ill.--A week into training camp, the Bears have found some help on the interior of the line.

A league source said that the club will sign Donovan Raiola this afternoon provided he passes his physical. Raiola was waived Tuesday by the Arizona Cardinals. Of course, the team thought it had an answer to some depth issues earlier in the week when it claimed Maurice Miller off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He arrived and failed his physical.

Raiola, who played at Wisconsin, is the younger brother of Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola. The Raiola brothers are boyhood friends of Bears center Olin Kreutz.

Donovan Raiola has also spent time previously in Pittsburgh and St. Louis.

The Bears have only 78 players under contract right now. After signing Raiola, they will have one more open spot.

UPDATE: Thanks to Brian McIntyre from macsfootballblog.com for pointing out that Raiola was also on the practice squad in Seattle last season.

Also on Jerry Angelo's radar:

Sammie Davis -older, one-eyed brother of Rashied. Punter.
Rose McGowan -vixenish older sister of Brandon, pretty decent Emo actress and nickelback.
Fester Adams -older, balder, fatter version of Anthony. Will replace Marcus Harrison in buffet line.
Adrian Peterson -the good one.

Blaxico, thanks for what has been the best laughs I have had all month.

Blaxico, maybe next they will hire your ugly mother. Laugh that off you and dumb gus

Wow it's homer weak at Halas Hall, first Lovie hires his totally unqualified son to be his assistant and now Olin gets a playmate. Way to teach your son about Nepotism, wait what am I thinking, Lovie also got his long time playmate Rod the Bod to play with.

Talk about scraping bottom. There have to be better options out there than this....

Did I miss a meeting or something? I thought the Bears already had a lot of competition in the interior O-line. They definately have more linemen than they can keep. Why do they keep picking up fringe guys that are getting cut early?

Is this a situation where they just need more camp bodies, or is there something else going on? Kreutz isn't hurt is he?

So much on my earlier comments about the o-line showing some stability, with this move it must say that Hiesatnd is still looking for more competition to shore up the position. I agree with MS BEARSFan, not sure why they are picking these guys up, and where were they on the draft/FA boards during the off-season, are these guys they were looking to bring in and someone beat them to the punch......Go BEARS

Donovan Raiola was probably signed to be the #3 center, depth, and a body on the practice squad come september. I've read that Tyler Reed has been getting the reps as the #2 center, and has really improved his pass blocking. Reed was known as a good run blocker coming out of Penn State. Maybe now that he's come on as an all around blocker, Chicago plans on moving him up to the 53-man roster come september. If so, another interior lineman like Raiola could take Reed's spot on the practice squad, just a guess. Reed seems to have a mean streak, I see he got in a fight this week in camp, you gotta love that in an interior lineman, hopefully the guy pans out.

Olin Kreutz is still a good center, but Chicago does have to start thinking about an eventual replacement, all Angelo can do is bring some guys in and see what they can do GO BEARS!!

Better than Fred clueless St. Clair. Hey Joe Feleicelli, I think you were a teacher of mine 40 years ago in Indiana.

Who gives a rats a$$??? Orton is long gone! He still and always SUCKS!!!!! BEAR DOWN!!!

John, thanks for letting the whole world know just how pathetic you are by criticizing both Blaxico and Gus for simply having a good laugh. If you think it's somehow funny by showing how much a lack of character you have you are dead wrong! But atleast you showed everyone on here that when it comes to childish cutdowns your #1, thanks for that John!!

On a mountain of skulls, in the castle of pain, I sat on a throne of blood! What was will be! What is will be no more! Now is the season of evil!

Janosz: He is Holland! You are like the buzzing of flies to him!

Tell me John, you weak-kneed insect, do you know what passion is? Would you know passion if it jumped at you and grabbed your face like a rabid chimpanzee with his paw stuck in a toaster? I do, I know passion insect John. My whole refrigerator is stocked with passion fruit juice and I make sure to have a glass every morning before I get into my windbreaker suit and jog three miles to my PASSION fruit farm.

Don't even get me started on character. My nose hairs have more character than you or any of these so-called fans of MY Chicago Bears! If your fragile minds don't remember, I am the Bears' #1 fan. And all of their success is due to ME, ME and ME ALONE!!! I am BESTEST BUDDIES with the ENTIRE coaching staff whether they know it or not! I CONTROL THEM ALL!

Let's say it all together now: "Yes, Mr. Holland. You are my infallible overlord Mr. Holland." Good.

Death is but a door. Time is but a window. I'll be back.

THE #1 Bears fan, Bill

actually I thought John's was funny too...... oh well, what does Donovon's brother know anyway?

I really thought we had our backups set - Beekman eventual center - but we would need a backup center for Beekman then right?

I think Beekman is really the backup C. I wish they would open competition there and get him out of the G spot. The overrated Kreutz is undersized and gets pushed around. Tenacity is great. But if you have to get up off the ground to give someone a shove you should probably be watching the game from the bench.

AHEM!!!

NBS where you been? I got you a present. Time to stoke the fire, enjoy reading this.

Fresh from Colorado it's the Orton report.

"ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- New Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton didn't get the warm welcome he anticipated when he made his unofficial debut at Invesco Field on Thursday night."

"Orton was booed by the crowd of 13,402 -- the largest ever to watch a Broncos practice -- when he threw two interceptions to cornerback Andre' Goodman, the second of which was returned for a long touchdown."

"Orton, who was traded to Denver by the Bears for Jay Cutler, also was jeered when he threw behind Chad Jackson and when he missed a wide-open Jabar Gaffney in the end zone."

""Fans can cheer. They can boo,"" Orton said."

This sounds all to familiar, maybe if Oroton doesn't want to be booed he should not(go ahead and finish it NBS).

AHEM!

I am sorry, that you are waiting for an apology. I think you are going to be waiting awhile. But who are waiting for an apology from? Bill or John? Bill tends to have split personality, all nice one moment all taking credit for his best friend Angelo signing Cutler the next, and pretty much hating everyone. As for John, well it really wasn't much of an insult was it? I mean all that is missing is I am rubber you are glue, whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you. Triple stamp it no erasies, touch blue make it true.

Creighton: "Bill tends to have split personality, all nice one moment all taking credit for his best friend Angelo signing Cutler the next, and pretty much hating everyone."

Don't forget his ties to Marinelli ... Bill used to be head cashier at Joe Cullen's favorite drive thru!

I read on another site that the Bears have released Lance Louis after he was charged with felony battery. I don't see anything on the official website or on here about it though. Does anyone have any more information or the ability to confirm this?

Thanks Creighton......If I said it once, I have said it a million times...Orton SUCKS!!!!....We stole Cutler from Denver and I'll bet two weeks pay that Orton will not be the Broncos starting QB by seasons end. Any takers?????....I thought not!!! It feels sooooo good to be right!!!!..BEAR DOWN!!!

NBS you finally got one right and you want to be recognized for stating the obvious, so reach around with your right hand and touch your left shoulder and pat vigorisly after having done so can you talk about anything else? Would love to find out if you know anything else [waiting with fingers thumping]at all. How about Anderson and his rejuvenation? is it Marinelli? What about Hester will he be a real #1? [still waiting.

// Creeighton ... DON'T FEED THE TROLLS!!!

DeputyDude......I have forgotten more that you know about the Beloved Bears!!!...This all means squat until the season starts so I'll show you how much then!! See ya! GO BEARS!!!
