Make it seven: Bears ink another draft pick

| 4 Comments | No TrackBacks

Add defensive end Henry Melton to the list of draft picks the Bears have come to terms with today.

The fourth-round draft pick has agreed to a four-year deal and becomes the seventh draft pick to reach terms with the Bears and contract negotiator Cliff Stein today. The Bears easily led the league in draft picks signed. The only remaining picks are defensive tackle Jarron Gilbert and wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias.

Earlier, the team announced it had reached agreements with D.J. Moore, Johnny Knox, Marcus Freeman, Al Afalava, Lance Louis and Derek Kinder.

Sources have said the Bears want to have all draft picks under contract by mid-June. At this rate, they might have all draft picks under contract by June.

Good! Doesn't leave much left to take care of except sign Pisa Tinoisomoa and maybe get a receiver threw trade

Iglesias would seem to have a fair amount of leverage, due to the Bears' lack of quality receivers.

I am not suggesting that he is a candidate to hold out, but he certainly seems to be in position to negotiate a favorable contract per his draft slotting. Your thoughts?

Iglesias was a late 3rd round pick !!!

He has NO leverage

Iglesias has no leverage, He is a third round draft pick with no speed. He would be lucky to make the practice squad some were if we released him. I am pumped to see what Al Aflave can do. He is a HARD HARD HITTING strong safty. Perfect run stoping safty. he just has to work on his covarage a little. Check out his hitt on You Tube.
