Live from Halas Hall: Bears tab Sooners WR Iglesias for second pick of day

| 12 Comments | No TrackBacks

The Bears made their second selection of the day, selecting Oklahoma wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias with the 99th overall pick, the compensatory pick they got for losing wide receiver Bernard Berrian in free agency to Minnesota.

General manager Jerry Angelo said Saturday that the team was confident it could find a receiver in the draft today that will be able to contribute this season. Igleisas is Oklahoma's all-time leader in receiving yardage, and the Bears have been following him. Wide receivers coach Darryl Drake put him through a private workout earlier this month.

Iglesias has good size at a shade over 6-foot and 204 pounds. He's considered a good route runner and he has good hands. With the depth chart the way it is, Igleisas will have the chance to step in quickly.

The Bears pick again very soon at No. 104 overall. What's next? We're guessing more defensive help. Stay tuned.

This kid should be a pretty good receiver for a long time. He has all the tools. I really liked him at Oklahoma. Bear Down

FINALLY, a WR ! I hope this kid can contribute right away (unlike E.Bennett) He lacks speed but has good hands. Can we say "BYE BYE" to stone hands Davis ? Like to see a speedy DB next !!

Like the Iglesias pick but do NOT like the Henry Melton pick here at all.

They just got Melton from Texas now they have drafted bookend DE's

So far so good, two good picks in the third round.

I love the Igleisias pick. I am a sooner fan and he will be playing with a bunch of other sooners as well. He will be fantastic!!!!!!!!!!

Drafting Henry Melton over Sidbury was a really dumb move

Iglesias is a good player, but he is not Oklahoma's all time leader in receiving yardage. Mark Clayton is 1st, Iglesias 2nd.

this could possibly be the worst draft in recent times. Unless you count the Cutler deal, that is the only saving grace so far!!

Here in S Fla we are rejoicing for Joaquin Iglesias and with his new
Chicago Bears.Go Sooners in the windy city. The best for Joaquin.
Doc D and the S Florida Sooners

Called this pick, I got the round wrong though, but I knew they liked him.

Gilbert is getting ready to jump out of a pool.

Great value pick and a productive receiver in a good program. Solid receiver that will move the chains and be open because Hester will be pulling defenders his way often now that Cutler is in town.

Like the pick, I thought he was more of a 6'2" 219 lb guy though? No time for me to look it up now.
