UPDATED: Bears sign practice squad players to futures deals; Hass to depart

The Bears signed seven of their eight practice squad players to futures deals today:

OT Cody Balogh
WR John Broussard
WR/CB Rudy Burgess
DE Joe Clermond
TE Fontel Mines
G Tyler Reed
LB Marcus RIley

Wide receiver Mike Hass was the only member of the practice squad not to sign a futures deal.

Hass spent most of this season on the practice squad and was on the 53-man roster last season after being a practice squad player for all of 2006. The former Biletnikoff Award winner from Oregon State is seeking an opportunity elsewhere.

"I think it was a mutual decision," his agent Scott Smith said. "He gave it a fair shot in Chicago and it's probably time to move on and try another opportunity.

"It's something we've talked about throughout the season, ongoing discussions. Jerry Angelo has a lot of respect for the players and I think in a lot of ways that's what makes him unique as a general manager. He understands Mike deserves an opportunity."

How stupid does it sound that a WR challenged team can let any type of potential go yeah he deserves a opportunity, but this brain dead personnel dept can't see that same with Brandon Rideau two years running best reciever in camp but can't get on the field. Angelo and scouting staff should be gone!!!!
