Vasher back in starting lineup; top pick Williams active

As expected, the Bears have their veterans back in the starting lineup at cornerback, and first-round draft pick Chris Williams will be active for the first time in his career.

Charles Tillman and Nathan Vasher are both starting today against the Detroit Lions, relegating Corey Graham to a reserve role.

Strong-side linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer will miss the game following surgery on his right thumb and will be replaced by Nick Roach, who gets his first career start.

Wide receiver Brandon Lloyd will miss his fourth consecutive game with a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Lloyd, who has been out more than a month, was originally expected to miss two to four weeks.

Graham's playing time could come at nickel cornerback with Danieal Manning (hamstring) sidelined.

Williams takes the gameday roster spot of Fred Miller, who is inactive.

Also not active for the Bears:

3rd QB Caleb Hanie
S Terrence Holt
DT Matt Toeaina
DT Anthony Adams

Poor Anthony Adams! He's getting hosed! He is playing better than Tommie Harris but is always inactive. If they're not gonna use him, trade him for a receiver.

Any update on Mike Brown? I hate to see him get hurt again, especially in the lower leg, but I don't think any Bear fan would say they didn't see this coming. Steltz played all right, but I would feel better with Manning back there, rather than a rookie to play alongside Payne. Hopefully the hammy will heal fast....

Hey Joe, we can finally agree on something! It doesn't sound like Brown is hurt bad, but like you said we have heard that story before.

It almost took getting hurt for Manning to be appreciated. It's surprising how much of a hole he leaves. He always seems to be screwing up, but he does have a lot of roles on defense and special teams that no single other player seems to be able to fill.
