Sly like a fox, Fox won't reveal plans for Hester

Panthers coach John Fox was asked the obligatory question, "will you kick to Devin Hester?"

"I don't think I'd tell you even if I knew," Fox responded. "We'll mix it up."

The shame of it is the Panthers don't have loquacious ex-Bears punter Todd Sauerbrun any longer. Sauerbrun approached the challenge with vigor last season when he was with Denver. As a side note, Sauerbrun is believed to be the first and only punter ever requested on a media conference call back in '05 when he was with Carolina.

San Diego kick returner Darren Sproles broke off a 41-yard return last week vs. the Panthers. For what it's worth, they ranked 19th last season in the comprehensive special teams rankings compiled by Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News.
