Griese to start vs. Atlanta ... and then Bears?

| 1 Comment | No TrackBacks

Brian Griese has been named the starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Sunday's game against Atlanta. That's not big news but for the fact that it greatly increases the chances he will start against the Bears when the Bucs come to visit Soldier Field Sept. 21.

Griese was the best quarterback for Tampa during preseason and Jeff Garcia was downright bad in the opener at New Orleans. With a bum ankle and likely hurt feelings over Jon Gruden's flirtations with Brett Favre during the summer, the thinking is Griese could captain the pirate's ship for the remainder of the season.

It's been reported that the Bucs are looking to move Garcia and might even consider dumping him. That's a move that would have made a lot more sense two or three weeks ago.

It's worth keeping an eye on as next weekend's matchup nears as a case can easily be made Griese was the Bears' best quarterback last season. Stay tuned.

Yeah, that would be fun. We take on former Bears Moose and Chris Harris this week, then we take on Griese the week after.

Afterall it was Griese who helped Kyle Orton develop over the years and this could be a classic Student vs. Master showdown.

He's a good QB, Griese. It will be a fun game and so far this season's looking to be real entertaining.
