Hesterized: Time to see if he's on the field

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Practice is set to get underway in about 30 minutes. We'll see if newcomer Devin Hester is on the field. The Bears will be in full pads for the first time. It's also worth watching to see if rookie offensive tackle Chris Williams suits up a day after leaving practice with back spasms.

*** Cornerback Charles Tillman figures to get involved for the first time also.

*** It's Rex Grossman's day to work with the first team offense.

*** We'll Twitter some updates from the practice field and then Hester is set to meet the press on the field following practice.

*** Here's defensive tackle Tommie Harris' take on Hester's arrival: "It's good to have him here. He is a good friend of mine, a person that I care about more off the field than I really do on the field. He's just a special talent and he does a lot for the team.

"I talked to him for a while [the last few days]. The main thing was just, if you're going to be here, don't give the money away. Don't give $15,000 away a practice. He made a wise decision."

Hester's fine total reached $30,000 but he will have to pay only if the team pursues him for the amount. No word on management's plans, but that would figure to destroy any momentum that has been created in negotiations by Hester showing up.
