Defensive tackle Tommie Harris volunteered for a trip to visit military personnel in Afghanistan and other outposts in the Persian Gulf last week.
The adventure has been put together by Houston defensive lineman Amobi Okoye, and joining them will be New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora and Texans running back Ahman Green.
According to Megan Manfull of the Houston Chronicle, the group of football players will meet Tuesday with Nigerian President Umaru Yar'Adua.
They will work to install a water well for a village badly in need of a clean supply, and supply scholarships to students among other philanthropic efforts.
"Nigerian kids are all basically raised the same," Ogunleye told the Chronicle. "There are two constants. We depend on family and we believe in giving — giving until it hurts."
