Finalized draft order

Now that the compensatory picks have been released and the Bears were awarded three extra choices in the seventh round we can chart exactly where they will be.

General manager Jerry Angelo has four of the top 90 selections and five of the first 110. The Bears have had good success at the beginning of the fourth round in the past, the first round of the second day.

They tabbed Alex Brown with the 104th overall pick in 2002, Nathan Vasher with the 110th pick in 2004 and Kyle Orton with the 106th pick in 2005. The Bears own the 110th pick this year, but the second day will begin with the third round after the format was shifted for this year.

A look at the their picks:

Round-Pick-Overall

1-14-14
2-13-44
3-7-70 (Briggsgate: Flip-flopping with San Francisco, which is now at 3-12-75)
3-27-90 (from San Diego)
4-11-110
5-7-147 (from Carolina)
6-9-175
7-15-222
7-36-243
7-40-247
7-41-248

At the start of 2009, I hope to see at least 5 starters in the 11 picks that the Bears have. With another 3 that is on the 53 man roster.

RD 1-14: i would try to entice dallas in a trade for there two number one's but most likely we can go ahead and tab: CWILLIAMS (OT VANDY) .
RD 2-13: J FLACCO (QB - DELAWARE) we could have patience for him, he has a high ceiling.
RD 3-7: J HARDY (WR - INDIANA) BIG, TALL, PHYSICAL, WITH EXCELLENT HANDS AND FAST FOR HIS SIZE... PICTURE HIM, BRADLEY, OLSON, WITH JFLACCO AND MY FORTH ROUNDER IN TWO YEARS...
RD 3-27:T LAWS (DT - NOTRE DAME) STRONG AND PLAYS HARD! MIGHT BE GONE JUST LIKE HARDY MIGHT BE BUT.....
RD 4-11:K SMITH (RB - UCF) I DONT WANT THIS TO BE AN "I TOLD YOU SO" MOMENT... I THINK THIS GUY IS GONNA PLAY HARD WITH A CHIP ON HIS SHOULDER.. WITH THE LINE WE HAD LAST YEAR HE COULD HAVE PUT UP BENSON NUMBERS.... BUT SHOOT, I COULD HAVE TOO.. IT WOULD BE GOOD TO GET THIS GUY... AND HE IS GOOD OFF THE FIELD ALSO (RAY RICE IS ANOTHER OPTION)
RD 5-7: WE MUST GET!!!!!!!!!! OWEN SCHMITT! PERIOD - I DONT CARE WHAT IT TAKES, JUST GET HIM.... HE JUST LOOKS LIKE HE WILL FIT THE BILL! LOL! CAN YOU SAY BRAD MUSTER!
RD 6-9: TUTTEN (G-RUTGERS)
RD 7-15 ZBIKOWSKI (S - NOTRE DAME)
AFTER THIS TAKE YOUR PICK...

I WOULD REALLY REALLY LIKE FLACCO, HARDY, SMITH AND SCHMITT BEHIND CWILLIAMS... I WOULD FEEL SO MUCH MORE POSITIVE ABOUT OUR OUTLOOK NEXT YEAR..

Hardy will go in the first round or early second. No way on this planet will he be there in the third round. We dont need another project QB and theres no reason to waste a second round pick with one. Its a nice dream but no way on this earth. Sorry

TURN OFF YOUR CAPS FAM......PLEASE....just use them when you make a GOOD POINT....feel me??

1-14 Draft Mendenhall, If we allow him to get to the Lions we will have to face two perennial allstar running backs 4 times a year. If not, trade down, and get Brandon Albert from VA, he will be the truth

2-13 Draft either Anthony Collins (OT, Kansas), Sam Baker (OT USC), or Duane Browon (OT, VT). One of these guys will be available and can step right in and start at either right or left tackle w/ BIG John Tait stepping in on the opposite side.

3-7 I'm feeling brando on James Hardy, but he will be long gone by this point. I predict late 1st round to early second round. That being said, we should take a strong look at the best available DT or RB if we havent grabbed Mendenhall. Man man BIG TREV Laws, who I've chilled with several times, and is a really cool kid, is the Bears best bet here. He has that cohesive quality about himself that will mesh well with the locker room. I think he will be gone by then unfortunenately, but hey, thats why this is a MOCK draft.

3-27 I really like Andre Woodson here. Even though he looked like hot garbage a the combine, he still proved he could win in a tough division with sub-par talent around him. Sounds familiar huh? Snatch this guy up! He will be the starter by mid-season.

4-11 My sleeper/Bernard Berrian replacement is the wide receiver from Houston Donnie Avery. This guy is fast and has great hands. Him and Rex will develop some deep ball chemistry and he would be a great fit an offense loaded with slow receivers.

5-7 I see brando thinks Zibby is gonna be around till the 7th round. I disagree, did you hear anything about his pro day? The kid will be gone if we dont snatch him up at this juncture. At the very least he could allow for us to cut Adam Archuleta who is the most horrible athlete in fooball. But Zibby has great value here and is one of our own. A kid from the CHI!

TO BE CONTINUED..........................

Mike, what do you think about Hardy? do you think we should second pick grab him with the second pick? what about Schmitt and KSmith?
i kinda thought i'd get more of a response of how you think about Hardy with Laws being available that low (3rd round 27th pick).

Wood sorry bout that (caps)
i agree with you on the RB.. but i doubt if Angelos would do that knowing that he messed up before (benson) and has a chance to grab a OT.

i think Hardy will still be around for our second pick

we should grab him..

whats your thoughts on Schmitt?

Wood I was the first posted blog.My name is under the post.
If you wanna talk a little N.D. I can. I like Zib. Hes a high energy player. Can be a leader. One knock on him he is a run supporter. He misses his assignments in passing plays to often.
I can see him in a 3-4 system. I just believe you put this guy in a Cover 2 system it gonna hurt his developement. He needs to be in a system that plays the run first and pass second.

My sincerest apologies Brando........my bad. But I still disagree with you in regards to Zibby. In the Bears scheme, we need a fast safety. He is faster and more athletic than anything we have back there, except maybe Mike Brown, but....well you know the deal with Mike. His speed would be great in the Bears system....what you have to understand about the game and schemes from college to the pro's is that its overratted. ATHLETES make the schemes work. SMART ATHLETES excel in certain schemes, and Zibby is an athlete that would fit perfect with the Bears. And trust me you dont wanna talk ND with the kid. I live 2 minutes from the dome homey.......

Danniel Manning is the fastest player on this team right now. He's even said to be faster than Hester. Berrian was the fastest. Zibby would not be faster than D. Manning. Maybe he would be faster than Mike Brown who hasn't shown anyone any speed in a couple of years.

Will You may be right on the speed on Danniel Manning, but if you were in a bar fight who would you rather have on your side? Zibby is more stronger and I'm sure will be a better tackler at the next level. Manning has been inconsistent throughout his career and the Bears just need some changes.

The Bears are gonna be in a real pickle, because at pick #14 there is gonna be a stud defensive player shockingly available.
It might be Sedrick ellis or Merling or Derrick Harvey or McKelvin. So now what do you do? Do you still go with plan A (pick the best damn blocker available) or do you make the defense nasty again?

I see the Bears dealing down at 14 because the OTs, Long and Clady will be gone and Williams (and his gator arms) and other OTs will not warrant selection here. If we can't deal, maybe Angelo reaches with Albert and looks OT in the second round. The four picks in rounds 3-5 will target WR,RB,QB and DT...look for Angelo to maybe pick a sliding "best athlete" available type...maybe even with a higher pick than we think. I see Hardy slipping into the 2nd round with his baggage and no way in HELL does Laws slip past pick 35. At worst he is the 3rd DT in this draft.
