No word yet on Griese

| 4 Comments | No TrackBacks

A source close to the situation said that veteran quarterback Brian Griese has yet to hear from the Bears following the contract agreements with Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton.

It is expected that Griese, who has three years remaining on his contract, will be released before a $300,000 roster bonus is due Tuesday.

Griese would likely want not part of a situation where he is the No. 3 with no opportunity to compete for the starting job. That is exactly how it is shaking out as general manager Jerry Angelo said the battle for the top spot will be between Grossman and Orton.

There should be a suitable market for the veteran, and he could wind up returning to Tampa Bay, where the Buccaneers had to release him because of salary-cap issues following the 2005 season.

To be most fair to Griese, the Bears need to release him before free agency opens in 25 hours.

Alright Angelo, explain to me this. You want QB competition, yet you don't want the one QB who statistically did the best in '07 to compete? Whatever, the Bears treated Griese like crap anyway. We'll probably see Griese start on some other team that will come back to bite us. Hopefully he finds some place where his talent is appreciated.

We need to get Younger at the QB position not stay with a Qb who really hasent stay conststant like we are seeking and is past his prime.

If we need a QB who hasn't been inconsistent why did we resign REX???! The guy may be the next Tom Brady elsewhere, but he's had enough chances here.

TAKE BRIAN BROHM IN THE DRAFT IF YOU WANT A SUPER BOWL TEAM QUICKLY HE CAN BRING A VERY PRODUCTIVE OFFENSE TO CHICAGO AND THATS THE ONLY THING THEY NEED TO WIN THE DEFENSE IS AWESOME MAYBE A LITTLE WORK ON THE OL BUT YOU NEED A MART AND PRODUCTIVE QB.. THIS WILL MAKE A WINNING COMBO...
