Safety Leonard Peters and guard Mike Jones, both on the practice squad, are expected to sign futures contracts with the Bears, perhaps as soon as Monday.
Clubs have exclusive negotiating rights with players on their own practice squad for five days beginning Monday. Afterward, they can pursue players from other organizations.
Peters could get a look as a special teams contributor in the offseason.
Jones, the Iowa product from Richards, provides some offensive line depth.
Look for the Bears to make a run at securing two other practice squad players, cornerback Greg Fassitt and guard Tyler Reed, the former sixth-round pick from 2006.
Also, OT Ryan Gibbons was released from the practice squad. He had been added at the end of last month.
