Hillenmeyer chosen for Good Guy Award

| 1 Comment | No TrackBacks

The Chicago chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America announced that linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer was selected as the Good Guy Award winner for 2007.

Hillenmeyer was chosen for his consistent and professional approach in handling the media obligations that come with the job and serves as an example for teammates to follow.

The Chicago chapter of the PFWA believes that media cooperation should be expected not celebrated, and Hillenmeyer was always available and candid in a season that was not easy.

It's a shame that this award has to be given out but it's much needed. Many of today's athletes don't understand that they are priveledged to get paid millions of dollars while playing a sport which they supposedly they love. Like you said, the media obligations come with the job. That is part of the reason that athletes get paid the amount of money that they get paid. The media is how you connect to your fan base. Stop being jerks and remember how it was growing up and seeing your sport heroes on tv. I'm sick of the arrogance.

I'm glad Hunter got the award. He is a class act. Can we clone him?
