In a move that amounts to more paperwork than anything with just one game remaining, defensive end Mark Anderson was placed on injured reserve with a left knee injury.
It ends a disappointing second season for him as he finishes with five sacks and 36 tackles in 14 games. He had just two half-sacks in his final 10 games after being given the starting position over veteran Alex Brown in the spring. Anderson, who was second in defensive rookie of the year balloting last season when he had 12 sacks, had four sacks through the first four games.
He becomes 12th player placed on IR this year, and the eighth to go on during the season. Brown stepped up and performed well in Anderson’s absence on Sunday, having an interception and sack in the 35-7 victory over Green Bay at Soldier Field.
