Bears in position to finish tops in special teams rankings

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Upon review, unofficial special teams rankings had the Bears first entering Sunday ahead of San Diego and San Francisco.

Brad Maynard’s four punts inside the 20 should help them. The official numbers are crunched by the Dallas Morning News’ Rick Gosselin, who created the complex ranking system that counts 22 categories.

The 64-yard punt return for a touchdown by Devin Hester really won't help as they were already tops in that category.

The Niners figure to be out of the running after the Brown's Josh Cribbs had a return for a touchdown against San Francisco.
