Archuleta sent to the bench

The Bears' flagship radio partner WBBM kicked off its coverage of today's game by announcing that strong safety Adam Archuleta has been benched.

Archuleta will be replaced in the starting lineup by Brandon McGowan.

It's a bold move by the coaching staff, which had lauded Archuleta's arrival from Washington for a sixth-round pick. The veteran struggled last week against Denver, and has not had a good season.

``I don’t know [why he’s struggled] and I know that he’s very disappointed about the way things have gone,’’ defensive coordinator Bob Babich said. ``But he’s working hard to correct the things that he’s done up to this point, you know, the things that need to get corrected, and he’s going to keep working hard.

``He comes down, he watches extra tape, he always is asking questions on the field, wants to make sure that he’s doing the way that we would like him to do it. I think that he has a great attitude.’’

The move will be interesting because McGowan has made his share of mistakes when he's been on the field.

He struggles because he's washed up!! Hang em up A.A.!!!!

Chris Harris move is coming back tp haunt Lovie who convinced Angelo to bring in Archeletta. Good ol boy system never works in football, there was a reason the Skins benched him last year and Redskins defensive coach Williams ( who did the benching) knows his stuff about defense. Lovie should have respected that. Part of a number of moves that can be scrutinized by the Bears head coach. If this had been his contract year instead of last, wonder if everybody in the media would be screaming to sign him like the know it alls did last year!

he is too old and now a half-step late, keep him in there and he will break both arms trying to tackle those who run by him. McGowan is arena league material. Heaven Deven please help us.

Joe Gibbs apparently knew something. Only Jerry Angelo would overpay for the Redskins' third string safety. I guess they thought he was a "system guy" who would work in the "Cover 2." Oops

Don't forget Archuleta is human too, and coming off a difficult season last year he's been affected by his confidence. He'll be working hard to fix his problems and it'll be interesting to see what happens after this season. He'll be back.

Yeah, the Chris Harris trade bummed me out from the start. I always liked that guy and now he has what? Several forced fumbles and interceptions for Carolina? Trading him so McGowan could be kept was crazy. Mcgowan had nothing to show being injured the beginning of last year and now he still has nothing to show. Harris? Started for a good part of the last two years...

AFTER WATCHING THE REPLAYS OF THE GINTS GAME, I HONESTLY THOUGHT THAT McGOWAN HAD A SOLID GAME!! HE WAS ALL OVER THE FIELD, AND I THOUGHT HE TACLED WELL--MUCH BETTER THAN ARM TACKLER -ADAM ARCHULET'EM RUN-BYE-YA.
SOMEONE STARTED TO SAY IT--I'LL FINISH THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS MESS LIES WITH THE COACH(ES). TOOOO MANY WRONG PERSONNEL CHOICES + TOOO MANY PENALTIES ALL SCREWED UP THIS LOST SEASON.
MY GOD---THE GIANTS??????
