Sources: Bears staying put this week

League sources indicate that no roster move is imminent for the Bears. Word is the Bears are saying they are not going to take any action this week.

It could be that the organization wants to wait and compile more medical information in regards to Cedric Benson's left ankle. The Bears also might want to bring in a few candidates for tryouts before charting a course.

The team is believe to have less than $1 million remaining in cap space, and by going with 52 players this week they could save a little there. No running back brought in this week could get up to speed with the offense after three practices.

Adrian Peterson has played a key role on special teams and two linebackers -- Darrell McClover and Nick Roach -- are available to fill that role. Both were inactive Sunday.

Of course, this plot could change in a day or two, but steady information now is the club will maintain course with Peterson and rookie Garrett Wolfe. Fullback Jason McKie has some experience carrying the ball, but his right foot is a little banged up and he should be considered an emergency option only.

Check back for more information regarding Benson's injury. Lovie Smith is due to meet media at 3 p.m. from Halas Hall.
