Beating the press

WR Rashied Davis and CB Charles Tillman were two of the last players off the practice field on Wednesday.

While Tillman sat out the practice, he did some individual work with Davis that didn't involve anything that would jeopardize his sprained right ankle.

Davis and Tillman worked on hand punches. It's a drill you see offensive linemen do a lot, something ex-Steelers lineman Tunch Ilkin is credited with popularizing.

In this case, Davis was working on a hand punch to help beat a jam by a defensive back at the line of scrimmage.

After Thursday's workout, rookie G Josh Beekman spent some time with assistant OL coach Luke Butkus practicing shotgun snaps. Beekman, a fourth-round pick from Boston College, played some center in school.
