Brian Griese's promotion to starting QB was not the only news on the fields at Halas Hall.

The Sun-Times reported first that CB's Nathan Vasher (groin) and Charles Tillman (right ankle) will not play Sunday at Detroit, and both were sidelined during practice.

Four other starters were sitting out:

DT Tommie Harris, who was wearing a brace on his left knee, was held out. Harris was upset over a report that indicated he could miss four weeks.

WLB Lance Briggs (groin) was held out of practice, but was jovial on the field during warmups. He's not believed to be seriously injured.

RT Fred Miller, who is wearing a brace on his right knee, was held out.

LG Ruben Brown (left ankle) was also sidelined.

The good news is DE Adewale Ogunleye (right hip pointer and SS Adam Archuleta (broken right hand) were practicing.

Also, TE Greg Olsen got a haircut so his long golden locks are no more.
