Urlacher missing at start of Friday practice

Middle linebacker Brian Urlacher was not present when the Bears opened practice Friday morning at Halas Hall. We'll wait for an update from coach Lovie Smith following the workout. Lance Briggs missed practice last Friday for "personal reasons" but made the trip to San Diego and had 10 tackles.

Wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad was also held out of the practice. Muhammad missed two practices last week, and was probable on last Friday's injury report. The reason given was an ankle injury. Smith talked in vague terms about Muhammad being in a routine this season during practice, so it's safe to imagine this was an expected day off for him and is related to the ankle issue of last week.

Tight end Greg Olsen was practicing again Friday with the brace on his sprained left knee. We'll wait to see where he lands on the injury report. Olsen was doubtful last week, and did not play in the opener at San Diego.

Left guard Ruben Brown, who missed Wednesday's practice with a shoulder injury, was practicing again Friday. He participated in all of Thursday's workout.

More after practice.
