Not Ald. Stone's best televised moment

| | Comments (5) | TrackBacks (0)

Ald. Bernard Stone didn't do so well the other night when he appeared on WTTW's Chicago Tonight to discuss the city's much criticized deal to lease its parking meters for 75 years.

Stone claimed he had done his homework on the deal, but when a reporter for the Chicago Reader, Mick Dumke, an expert on the deal, asked him what that entailed, Stone replied, "it's none of your damn business."

We're not in the business of giving aldermen advice on how to conduct themselves on television, but Stone might want to rethink his strategy.

The fireworks start around the 11 minute mark, but it's worth watching the whole video.

Like many at City Hall, Bernie Stone needs to retire.

The time has long past for Bernie to retire. What a doddering, addle brained old guy. I love how he justified selling the meters to the private company so the aldermen could avoid voting to raise the parking rates and having to answer to their constituents for doing so. If you don't want to answer to your constituents, don't run for alderman. The aldercreatures should not be permitted to abdicate thier responsibilties to insure their re election. What a bunch of spineless toadies.
Krislov has filed many frivolous lawsuits over the years but this one may have some basis in the law. Certainly, the facts, as we know them, require some scrutiny.

Wow, another example of shady bureaucrat dealings. Look what libs have done to our inner cities. I won't even venture into KC Mo. at night anymore.

Yeah, KC Mo is such a scary place. You might actually have to see brown people there. Boo!

Since you don't know what you're talking about, the parking meter disaster in Chicago has nothing to do with either liberal or conservative politics (you'd probably like Daley KCGirl--his police force routinely shoots brown people). It's just about Daley once again getting his own way while our spineless City Council lets him. I think our only hope of getting rid of him is if/when he's arrested on corruption charges. That can't happen soon enough for me.

Cheryl, you are a moron. The other poster said nothing about 'brown people' but lo and behold, you go straight to race like every other liberal. The sad thing is that you don't recognize that libs NEED people to stay poor in order for them to stay in power with promises of 'Hope' and 'Change'. Sound familiar? Well, how is all that change working out for you?
