Should minors be held at Guantanamo?

| | Comments (3) | TrackBacks (0)

Some disturbing video was released this week. In it, a Canadian teenager cried out for his mother and medical attention while being interrogated at the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo.
Omar Khadr is now 21 and he has been held without due process since he was 15.
Human rights groups and the Sun-Times editorial board have argued that the military prison at Guantanamo should be closed down.
But it's beyond disturbing to think that a minor was held there in legal limbo for six years.
This young man should be returned to his home in Canada, where he should be given a fair trial for his alleged crimes. He is accused of throwing a grenade that killed a U.S. Special Forces soldier in 2002 in Afghanistan.
The Canadian and American governments must intervene. To continue to hold him in Guantanamo is a violation of international law and basic human rights.

Absolutely,if they pose any threat to the well being of others or public property! We have to be on alert 24/7 due to the terrorists
and their followers that plague our once peaceful world!!
Serious situations require serious actions; when dealing with people who are ready to die and kill/maim for their so called cause
drastic measures need to be taken!! It's time to take the gloves off and treat those who are in the USA to cause it and it's citizens
harm, accordingly!! We must also remember that terrorists use people, men/women/children as emissaries of destruction which means
we have to act as needed, situation by situation!! `

Most definitely they should be held. He is a killer of a U.S. soldier. A soldier who was defending all of us. A soldier who didnt have a chance to cry out for his mother. What is wrong with all of us who believe that it is not ok to hold a killer responsible but it is okay to allow a person to be killed. No matter how long you hold him in prison, he is still alive to cry for his mother....What about the dead soldier?

LET'S STOP WASTING MONEY ACROSS THE COUNTRY ON DEATH ROW-SEND EM TO GUANTANAMO! IT'S SAD WE CAN'T TORTURE our OWN CRINIMALS, BUT WE CAN WATERBOARD TEENAGE ENEMY COMBATANTS AT WILL. IF JUSTICE IS SUPPOSED TO BE BLIND, SHE MUST BE WEARING CONTACTS THESE DAYS.
