Ringo Starr wants more peace and love in the world.
He's planning a peace rally this Monday at noon in Chicago in honor of his 68th birthday. There will be simultaneous rallies in Hollywood, New York, London and Iceland.
The planned rally at Buckingham Fountain may be drowned out by clean up crews from Taste of Chicago. So Ringo may have to find an alternate venue.
Still, is all this talk of peace an empty gesture?
Ringo wants people to gather around the world to flash the peace sign and meditate on the words peace and love.
Well Ringo, singing, crying or even praying for peace won't end the war in Iraq or the conflict in Israel.
But thinking positively certainly can't hurt us.
It seems you're a dreamer just like your late friend John Lennon.

Ringo Starr is a humane vegetarian who has reverence for the lives of people and the animal kingom. His respect for all life engenders peace.
Maybe you'd prefer a meeting in the hood where we all flash gang signs, spray paint some symbols and dodge bullets for a better world? Like that is a better message or a greater hope for us.
Maybe it's an empty gesture, for a world gone bad, but I doubt there will be grieving parents attending their childs funeral a couple days later, as a result of those who do hope for a better world.
