The bad girl of British soul music is in trouble again. Singer Amy Winehouse's life is an ongoing train wreck.
A London newspaper obtained a video of her singing a version of the children's song, "Heads, shoulders, knees and toes," that she reworked with her own original and completely racist and offensive lyrics.
"Blacks, Pakis, Gooks and Nips. And deaf and dumb and blind and gay!" she sings in the video that looks like it was shot in a crack den.
Now the video, reportedly filmed by her husband (a lad with his own set of problems and currently in jail) was shot more than a year ago.
Since the release of the video over the weekend by the News of the World in the U.K., Winehouse has made a half-hearted apology.
"I don't want to play anything down, but I'm the least racist person going," she said outside her home.
Funny most racists don't actually think they are racists. But when people are drunk (or otherwise altered) their truest sentiments often come forward.
Winehouse is best known for her song called "Rehab," for which she won three Grammys. There were reports she tried rehab but she denied it.

I said no, no, no," Winehouse sings in the "Rehab" song.
Well Amy, it's time to go to rehab and get your head screwed on straight. I say, yes, yes, yes.

Alleged racism is the least of Ms. Winehouse's problems. Her biggest issue is her drug and alcohol abuse. Who knows what anyone is thinking when they are in dark grip of addition.
You say the film appeared to be shot in a "crack den," and that answers most of your questions. She wasn't thinking clearly and people under the influence are bound to say a lot of crazy things.
We should all pick are battles and taking a pathetic drug addict to task for a year-old homemade video she made as a goof while under the influence of drugs is really not a battle worth fighting.
While her ranting may seem racist, you can only feel sorry for her because she is destined to live a short life at the rate she is going.
I believe Amy is not a racist. She is a screwed up girl who should get her life together and begin doing so by
dropping her punk husband.
I is sad that out of all the words in the dictionary she picked racial demeaning words as an expression of her musical talent.
She is on the way to losing my support.
She should change her name to Amy "WineHead", go to rehab (and not just sing about it), and get the help she obviously needs.
In all seriousness, she is a prime example of a person headed for disaster, and if she does not seek God and professional help, her name will be heard as the television reports will say, "Musician Amy Winehouse was found dead today in her London flat..." not a way to end your career.
Who really cares. To me she dosen't have that much talent and it seems like the more people pay attention to her bad behavior the more she acts bad.
Oh to be rich and famous. When I was young I used to fantasize about how nicely I would get treated. But the internet changed everything. Now it is all about bashing.

I think the words she uses here are so absurd that they're kind of deflated as hate speech. Besides, she's a wealthy drug addict - if she was really trying to be hateful she could do much better.

I am disappointed that she would speak this way about the majority of people that make up her fan base.
Maybe she was just venting in her incoherrant little mind. Poor thing has so much talent and does not know if she is coming or going. She seems to be easily led by others that do not have her best interest at heart, especially that husband of hers.
Less than a year ago she was walking around wearing black fraternity/sorority tribute t-shirts supposedly to honor the achievements of these organizations. (especially because it is considered "disrespectful" for ANY indivdual to display or wear greek organization paraphenelia that they are not a member of). Jay-Z and many other black big names in the music industry helped to endorse her which helped skyrocketed her popularity in the US. I wonder what Jay-Z has to say about her now?
You know she is not that bright for turning down an opportunity to perform the soundtrack for one of the biggest movies of the upcoming year - James Bond.
If Amy continues to act the way she does, other emerging artists, like Sharon Jones (who she used to sing back up for. The same Sharon Jones that she was so inspired by enough to snag her "signature sound") will be quick to take her place.
Let's resolve that drug addiction she's coupled so wrecklessly with her alcoholism before we address her world views. She's too amped up on her crank to deal with on a societal level at this time.
