Sanctuary City - BackTalk

Sanctuary City

The suburb of Evanston will soon consider an ordinance that would make it a "sanctuary city."
This would mean that in most cases city employees and police could not ask about a person's immigration status. This is also technically the case in Cook County and Chicago where there is a "don't ask don't tell" immigration policy in place.

This pro-immigrant policy in Evanston comes at a time when other Chicago suburbs like Carpentersville and Waukegan have adopted anti-immigrant policies. Also other states from Arizona to Oklahoma have adopted strict statewide immigration laws that go after employers who hire illegal immigrants.
There will continue to be a flurry of new laws from the local to statewide level until the U.S. Congress acts to adopt comprehensive immigration reform.

The only comprehensive immigration policy that should be implimented is for all illegals to go back to their home country and apply. I believe in getting at the back of the line , in back of all those who have applied first. I personnally see the negative impact of having a sanctuary city. Illegals are driving drunk without insurance ,causing accidents and even death. Our schools are overcrowded, our welfare system is overbudget, our hospitals are stressed and infrastructure is collapsing.

Now that the border states are implementing their laws to curb the influx of illegal immigrants, they are leaving those states but not to their homeland (surprised?) They are heading to sanctuary cities like ours. Soon we will see Illinois enforcing the laws that already exist. But not until the problem is too overwhelming for Chicagoans to keep ignoring.
