Olympic sprinter and former gold medalist Marion Jones was once considered the fastest woman on earth.
But she can't run away from her mistakes any more. On Friday, she was sentenced to six months in prison for lying to investigators about using performance enhancing drugs and her role in a check fraud scam.
She asked for mercy and apologized to the judge. But it did not spare her jail time.
Jones has two small children and they are sure to miss their mother while she is behind bars. That is tragic.
Jones is a disappointment to those of us who saw her as a role model. In prison, she will have plenty of time to reflect on what she did wrong.
