Dozens of people were killed by terrorist bombs in Algiers today. Condemning the attacks, believed to be by the militant group al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb, President Bush resorted to an increasingly bothersome cliche. He characterized the bombings as "senseless violence."
Terrorist bombings are many things: heinous, brutal, cold-blooded, evil. But to the people who plan them in great detail and use them to advance an agenda — in this case overthrowing the government of Algeria in favor of an Islamic theocracy — the violence is anything but senseless, or mindless, or meaningless. To the terrorists, this carefully engineered and targeted violence couldn't make more sense.
The more mundane terms like "senseless violence" are used to describe these attacks, the more people will perceive them as terrorism as usual. When we start becoming jaded to these murderous events, we're in even bigger trouble than we think.

I think that he should receive jail time because of the cruelty towards the animals but he should also seek a psych treatment because there is definitely something wrong when a person can kill a dog or any living thing with no remorse. That tells you a lot about his mind set. I love Michael Vick because he is a great QB, and just sexy as hell but what he was involved in is scary and wrong...regardless of the West Virginia culture.
Talk about senseless: The gangs are shooting other gang members because of territory on where to unload "drugs" "I sell here and you have to go someplace else, unless you want to be shot" My question is where are these 14-19 year olds getting these drugs to sell????? Come on Weiss you all know why there is so much shooting on our Chicago streets!!!
