A judge tried to lock out the media and the public from a juvenile trial in the Jena 6 case.
But another judge ruled the case against Mychal Bell must remain open.
He made the right decision.
"We need to have public trials so the public has confidence in what we do," said District Judge Thomas Yeager.
He's right.
It's no longer a matter of protecting a minor's identity since he has already gone public.
This case has inflamed racial tensions and to ensure there is justice the public and the media need to have full access to the proceedings.

I am sure it was time we read and heard something about the white kid that was beaten. It's a shame that all this is still going on, innocent people getting beaten, and sometimes even killed. I think the the white guy deserves justice as much as the black kids.
I just read an article by Larry Elder. According to him, the children are no longer being charged with murder. If this is the case, then I no longer feel the need for outrage. A crime is a crime, but the charge of attemted murder was definitely overkill here.
