Stroger's taxes - BackTalk

Stroger's taxes

We let Cook County Board President Tood Stroger have it this morning. He's pushing a 2-cent increase in the county portion of the sales tax and other tax increases that will help the county break even next year but by 2009 will generate hundreds of millions of dollars in surplus revenue for the county. We said we didn't trust him to scale back those taxes at that point. Today Stroger proposed a resolution to formalize his promise to rebate any taxes collected above and beyond what the county needs to meet its obligations. But we're still not ready to trust him. Are you?

When have white people been trusted by blacks? Ask the native americans how whites are to be trusted, they will rightfully tell you ..not at all!

Surely he jest! give back money from the people you wrenched it from.
Todd Stroger is a practicing nut or a nut in training.

I am happy to say I did not vote for Todd Stroger or our Howdy Doody governor. Unfortunately, their performances to date has proved my opinion of both correct. The only thing I'm puzzled about is why are they still in office? Do we really have to put up with them finishing their terms? Why don't they have to be accountable for their actions the same as other people who aren't in government? It's time to start running government a little more businesslike instead of as a non-profit dumping ground for the friends and family of politicians.
