Enough with this government intervention. People should be able to smoke in public places, the beach included. I am not a smoker but I think that we're encroaching on our limits on stopping smoking.

Yes, it's probably unfair to ask for the smoke-intolerant to make adjustments--like moving to a different spot on the sand. But that's the way it goes for those who find themselves stuck next to booming boom boxes, screaming kids and really, really, dull conversations. Laws can't, and shouldn't, address every such problem.

I don't want smokers puffing up next to me when I go to the beach.
Indoor public spaces are now off-limits to smokers, and outdoor public spaces like the beach should be too. A cloud of smoke is the last thing I want to see as I relax along the lakefront. It's bad for our health and the environment.
Plus smokers are littering the beaches with their cigarette butts. They can be dangerous for children and birds.
I say smokers should get their butts off the beach.

Now that the anti smokers have won the battle starting jan.1 I would like to take the logical next step. Lets ban the sale of tobacco products in Illinois.Being a smoker I'm dying to see how many pols would back me up? Noooooooooooo to much money to be made .All smokere should purchase their cigs in Indiana.
