Jeremy Piven's here tonight! The Chicago-area actor last month left his hit Broadway show, the Mamet revival of "Speed-the-Plow," claiming health problems -- mercury poisoning, as it were.
On the red carpet tonight, he spoke briefly about the ungraceful exit ...
Tiki Barber, former football player, was doing the carpet commentating for NBC. So Piven likened his departure to a team doctor telling Barber to leave the game because of an injury. Barber joked that he usually ignored such orders.
... At which point "Entourage" producer Mark Wahlberg jumped in to say how they needed Piven to be healthy for that acclaimed HBO comedy.
Saved by the bellwether! Thanks, Mark, and say hi to you mom for us.
