Chris Brown was the big winner at last night's American Music Awards, but Chicago's own Kanye West had the most fun.
AP:
Instead of his typical tantrum -- a trend West started four years ago when he lost the favorite new artist prize -- the rapper claimed two trophies Sunday and called on his colleagues to up their game.
''It's our responsibility as musicians to keep pushing each other,'' West said. ''We will be the new Beatles, the new [Jimi] Hendrix. I want to be Elvis.''
West was named favorite male rap/hip-hop artist and his CD, ''Graduation,'' won favorite rap/hip-hop album.
Entertainment Weekly's blog takes issue with Mr. West, however: "Dude. Kanye. I will write this in all caps in hopes of speaking your language: YOU ARE A GAZILLIONAIRE. CHEER THE HELL UP. You want the awards, you don't want the awards, you have an increasingly awkward relationship with women, you boldly challenge your peers but then say ridiculous things like 'I want to be Elvis,' you are collapsing into self-parody...and was that a dead raccoon in your pocket?"
