We just mentioned an official Oscars viewing party in Chicago, and we've been alerted to an official Grammys viewing party here, too.
The Chicago chapter of the Recording Academy hosts its viewing party for 50th annual Grammy Awards at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Hard Rock Cafe, 63 W. Ontario.
The catch: Unlike the more populist Oscars party, this one's invite-only. Because even if they tried the Grammy people just can't shake this snobbishness that continues to separate them from the spirit of the music they continue to honor, usually belatedly. Sigh.
