LOS ANGELES — Victoria Beckham, Cameron Diaz, Lindsay Lohan and Robin Williams are among the stars set to present ‘‘golden popcorn’’ trophies at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards. The Drama Desk Awards — kind of like the Golden Globes of the theater world — were announced Sunday. And, like the Globes, these picks are usually a good indication of who might go home with a Tony. "Spring Awakening" picked up a couple of awards including outstanding musical, outstanding director of a musical, outstanding music (Sheik) and outstanding lyrics (Satar).

Kenny Chesney waits again for top ACM award

LAS VEGAS — Kenny Chesney may want to start arriving at the Academy of Country Music Awards a little later in the evening.

For a third consecutive year, he sat through a three-hour show before winning anything. But patience was a virtue at last night's 42nd annual award ceremony, just as it was at the 40th and 41st gatherings, when Chesney also went home with the prestigious entertainer of the year trophy. ...

Exactly one month ago today, Misha Davenport in the Sun-Times' Sunday Show section pondered the touring fates of several of Broadway's biggest shows and said the Tony Awards likely would determine whether Chicago got to see them. This morning, ‘‘Spring Awakening,’’ the Duncan Sheik-Steven Sater rock musical about the sexual longing of 19th-century German teenagers, received a leading 11 Tony nominations. So expect to see it in Chicago soon ...

'Idol' producers back out of Emmys

LOS ANGELES — The Emmy Awards ceremony won’t be getting the ‘‘American Idol’’ touch after all. Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick, executive producers for Fox’s hit talent contest, have backed out of producing the prime-time Emmy ceremony in September, the TV academy and network said Friday.

MTV Video Music Awards moving to Sin City

NEW YORK — The MTV Video Music Awards are synonymous with debauchery, so it makes sense that the annual event has found a new home in Sin City — Las Vegas. After broadcasting from New York last year, the awards will air live from the Palms Casino Resort on Sept. 9. But the network promises the awards show will not be a one-day offering but a three-day bash with several events leading up to the big night.
