Ryan Seacrest on E!'s red-carpet show caught Chicago's Jennifer Hudson and chatted with her, looking ... er, certainly noticeable in her silver-gold lame sci-fi shrug.
Ryan, of course, being the boob he is, remarked on her weight. She attributed her slimmer silhouette to "working out with my trainer in Chicago every day the whole summer. I get up at 4 a.m., run for an hour. ... No short cuts. If you're not working hard for it, it's not worth it."
Then, a really special moment with her ...
Seacrest said he had a special message from his "American Idol" cohort, the acid-tongued Simon Cowell — a video message which he proceeded to play for Hudson, a former "American Idol" loser.
"Jennifer, I just wanted to say to you from all of us at 'American Idol,' we have a feeling you're going to win tonight," Cowell said in his pre-taped message. "We think you're gonna win, and you deserve it."
Jen was touched, dabbing at her eyes. "You're gonna mess up my make-up already," she said.
"I've never seen him so heartfelt, have you?" Ryan asked.
"No," said Hudson. "Is he OK?"
