Grillin' with the Acura RL

as08_rlgrille.jpg

During the media preview at the Chicago Auto Show, I'm surrounded by hundreds of opinionated journalists who love to criticize the launches at the show. And the biggest grumblings I heard after a launch centered around the all-new Acura RL. My fellow media members disliked the grille.

Personally, I thought it was incredibly eye catching. I like the bold brushed chrome surround with the shiny Acura emblem embedded at the top. I thought the design was unique and fit in well with the overall exterior styling, including the cool taillights.

Any Acura owners or potential owners want to weigh in on the new design? You know this is just the beginning. Expect to see this new design in the TSX, RDX, MDX ... etc., coming soon. So, let us know what you think. Haven't see the new design? Check out our photo gallery of the all-new RL.

The 100th annual Chicago Auto Show was the most lackluster of all the auto shows we’ve ever been to.
The absolute highlight of the show was the GO ARMY! Exhibit. People of all ages, sizes and colors crowded the immense area climbing all over the armored tank, assorted Hum vehicles, and the show-stopping, Big Daddy of them all, the Blackhawk Helicopter. Even I couldn’t stay off that one.
Each service man and women who manned the exhibit wore the biggest smile on their faces along with the pride they shared in serving us and our country.
GO ARMY stole the auto show away from the big automakers and it was refreshing and heartwarming to see this display of dignity and honor on all our parts.

You know, I've owned a litany of Honda's and Acura's over the years and have, as of recent, become disenchanted with their "look". They used to be the leaders of futuristic design and hipness but, now, they've faltered. The "grill" is okay, but only substantiates my belief that the design leaders are now at Lexus, Infinity and Volvo. It's too bad; I love my Acura.
