Calling it a way of taking the sweet and savory combination to the "next level," Dunkin' Donuts will unveil its new "Glazed Donut Breakfast Sandwich" on June 7.
The sandwich swaps out bread for a glazed donut that sandwiches a meat and egg filling.
"We tried the sandwich with all of our meats, including bacon, ham and turkey, and besides bacon I think the next best meat to use in the sandwich is ham," said Stan Frankenthaler, Executive Chef and Vice President of Global Product Innovation, on the company's website. "It's a little more filling, but the saltiness of the ham pairs really well with the sweetness of the glazed donut."
The Associated Press reports that the "Glazed Donut Breakfast Sandwich" is 360 calories, 30 calories fewer than its turkey sausage sandwich. The recently released McDonald's Egg White Delight McMuffin, which is being pitched as a healthy breakfast option, has 250 calories.
