Illinois men, represent! Of the 25 men competing for Desiree Hartsock's final rose on the new season of "The Bachelorette," three are from Chicago and one is from west suburban Winfield. The only state with more men on the show is California.
The lucky local guys are:
Nick Roy, 26, a tailor and magician from Chicago
It wasn't hard to find this guy online. Hot magicians are in notoriously short supply (apologies to Criss Angel and David Copperfield fans). Roy was interviewed by Time Out Chicago, which asked him if ladies liked a magic man, to which he replied "for sure" before letting the magazine in on one of his pick-up tricks.
"I do a gag in which I say, 'There's no way I can know your phone number, right? Write it down on this piece of paper.'," he told the magazine. "So they write it down, I put the paper in my pocket and move on to something else. [Laughs] They're like, 'Wait, what?!'"
Press material from ABC indicate we'll be seeing some of his magic on the first show. Here's a video of him charming ladies with a number of tricks.
Mike Tenerelli, 30, a plumbing contractor from Winfield
ABC is calling him Mikey but on his family's plumbing business website, he goes by Mike. Whatever you call him, he is really fit -- he's the co-owner of Crossfit AlphaDog in Lombard and also follows the crossfit lifestyle.
I spoke briefly to a friendly Tenerelli who said he is not engaged to Desiree, who he called a "really nice girl." He doesn't look for love in DuPage County. You can find him at Chicago nightclubs and sporting events. When asked if he would do the show again, he hesitated before saying he would.
James Case, 27, an advertising executive from Chicago
James' official "Bachelorette" bio says he is twice-tatooed - with a bull and an Indian, both on his shoulders. The BankRate employee is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio.
We don't know how long he'll last but Hollywood Life did publish this photo of him holding hands with Desiree on a coveted one-on-one date in Atlantic City.
Will, 28, a banker from Chicago
The most mysterious of our local contestants, Will told ABC that his favorite date in Chicago is going to the gym.
"I like taking my dates to the gym to work out with me because it tells me a lot about their work ethic and daily habits," he says here. This may explain why he is still single.
