The lineup for Next Up 2013, the third annual collaboration between Steppenwolf Theatre and Northwestern University's MFA programs in Direction and Design, has been announced. The project features the productions created by graduates of those programs who use casts of professional Chicago actors, Hedy Weiss reports.
The three shows selected, which will run in rotating repertory (May 28-June 16, 2013) in the Steppenwolf Garage at 1624 N. Halsted, include: Adam Bock's "The Drunken City" (about three young women's raucous adventures during a night out on the town prior to a wedding), directed by Johnny Michael DiResta; Anne Washburn's "The Internationalist," a brainy comedy about jet-lag and miscommunication of all sorts, directed by Erin Murray; and Neil LaBute's "Fat Pig," a meditation on weight discrimination and more, directed by David Prete.
Tickets to Next Up go on sale March 29, 2013. Call (312) 335-1650 or visit www.steppenwolf.org.
