Everyone has their gin story.

Much like tequila, gin sometimes gets a bad rap, always attributed to long nights with the clear spirit.

But for tipplers who add Hendrick's Gin to their tonic -- or the harder mixers -- find the notes of cucumber and rose petals a welcome addition to their cocktail.

Hendrick's Gin invites curious Chicagoans to join "Voyages into the Unusual" Thursday night at Salvage One, 1840 W. Hubbard.

The evening includes a lesson on the eleven botanicals in each bottle, as well as glasses of the brand's signature "Traveling Punch." The band White Ghost Shivers is the house band, and cocktail enthusiasts also are treated to circus acts and a traveling apothecary.
